🚑 Wait... "No-Fault" doesn't mean what you think it means.
Welcome to Day 2 of our "Insurance Decoded" series! Today we’re tackling the most confusing term in Kentucky: PIP (Personal Injury Protection).
You've heard Kentucky is a "No-Fault State."
Does that mean you can back into a mailbox and it’s nobody’s fault? No. 😂
"No-Fault" actually refers to your medical bills.
It means that if you get hurt, YOUR insurance pays your first $10,000 in medical bills, regardless of who caused the crash.
Here is the problem: The standard coverage is only $10,000.
🏥 Ambulance ride? $1,200.
🏥 ER Visit? $4,500.
🏥 CT Scans? $3,000...and just like that, your coverage is gone.
PIP also covers Lost Wages (if you can't work)
But did you know it also covers "Replacement Services"? 🤯
If your injury stops you from doing your normal chores, your policy kicks in to help.
✅ Can't mow the lawn due to a broken leg? PIP can pay a landscaper.
✅ Can't clean the house due to a back injury? PIP can pay for a cleaning service.
Replacement Services is the "hidden gem" of Kentucky auto insurance that almost no one knows about.
💡 Teacher's Tip: Check your policy. Do you have the basic $10k, or did you upgrade to $20k or $50k? For a few extra dollars a month, you can save yourself a massive headache later.
