If you’ve looked at your stock portfolio and wonder why it’s decreasing, here’s why:

Treasury yields are increasing causing people to sell off tech stocks and buy more treasury securities (bonds, notes, etc.) and post Covid performers like airlines.

Also, the U.S. government is making a perfect cocktail for inflation as talks of another stimulus check round continues and student loan repayments are still in forbearance. Inflation means prices will increase as the value of the USD will decrease, which hits companies that get parts or items made in other countries (like Apple) hard financially. Potentially increasing their COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) and decreasing their Gross Margin and Net Income.

Solution: Hedge some of that risk by getting some treasury bond ETFs, TIPs, and other less risky securities that have lower/more guaranteed returns than individual stocks.

The market is down due to jobless claims going up. The market normally reflects the economy; however, that has not been the case due to Reddit trading trends in recent months.

This should not scare long-term investors as we know the market and the economy will increase as vaccinations increase, Covid cases decrease, and we get back to some type of normality.

Economist also predict Americans currently have $2.5 Trillion saved collectively, which would boost the economy and stock market greatly post Covid.

is allowing every day investors to invest in their VC firm, which focuses on investing in start-ups run by people of color, women, and LGBTQ+ founders.

Start-ups continue to dismantle traditional barriers and grant opportunities to people who would not have them otherwise. Groundbreaking.

The accuracy... talks of stimulus checks to help people survive as we approach the year mark of being locked down during a pandemic VS. new traders making thousands on the stock market via suggestions on Reddit chat rooms.

New investors are controlling the market right now. GameStop is now over $200/share with no logical reason.

This might lead to a bigger discussion on how start ups are dismantling traditional capitalism. Opening the door to spaces the wealthy only dwelled.

How do you see this playing out long term?
