Effective Altruism at USC

Effective Altruism at USC A group for people who want to use evidence and reason to make the greatest positive impact on the world. We hope you’ll join us!

Effective Altruism USC is a forum where members of the USC community can meet and share ideas, information, and resources on how they can use their careers and charitable donations to do the most good. We plan to host guest lecturers, to share and discuss resources for making more informed career choices, and to organize fundraisers to raise money for effective charities. Effective altruism is a g

rowing movement that believes in asking, “How can I make the biggest difference I can?” – such as in deciding what career to pursue, or which charities to give to – and using evidence and careful reasoning to try to find an answer. For an introduction to effective altruism, check out this TED talk by the philosopher Peter Singer: https://youtu.be/Diuv3XZQXyc
