7 SIGNS YOU ARE A BACKSLIDER:

1) You stop reading God's Word or you keep reading it simply out of duty. There isn't much, if any, self-examination, submission to the truth, deep study or true interest.

2) Private prayer stops or you pray cold, dead prayers. You may even start treating God like a "genie in the bottle" to grant your wishes. You may pray in front of others, but they're just mere words coming out of your mouth.

3) You don't want to be around the people of God anymore - the ones who you know will speak the truth to you. You ignore them, don't respond to their messages and have nothing to do with them. Instead, most of your friends are unbelievers or lukewarm professing Christians.

4) You don't care about the eternal fate of those around you anymore. Sharing the gospel doesn't interest you in the least. Hey, if you're going to Hell yourself, why would you warn others not to go there?

5) You don't worship God via song like you used to. You might even stop listening to Godly music altogether and start listening to wicked music.

6) You start to believe false doctrines that give you an excuse for your sins. You'll more readily believe false doctrine in general, even though you use to defend the truth against such things.

7) You will come against those who rebuke sin (especially your sin or the sin of your ungodly "friends"), stand up for truth and preach the gospel. In other words, you come against those who are what you should be and what you used to be. You probably do this because of the guilt and shame it brings you to see them obeying God.
