June is National Oral Health Month, so we’re sharing three tooth-friendly tips to keep you smiling all year!
#1 Make Flossing Easy: Yep, we’ve all heard this before, but did you know how many options you have? If traditional string floss is tricky, try disposable floss picks, a reusable floss-aid, or a water flosser. The best floss is the one you’ll actually use daily.
#2 Watch for Dry Mouth: Many medications cause dry mouth as a side effect, which increases the likelihood of developing cavities—especially in older adults with receding gumlines. Talk to your doctor, read your medication labels, and drink extra (preferably fluoridated!) water if you’re at risk for dry mouth.
#3: Keep Up with Dental Visits: Even if you wear dentures or don’t have any natural teeth, regular dental exams are vital to oral health. Dentists check for hidden issues in your gums and jawbone, and can even detect pre-cancerous or cancerous lesions early.
Did you know many Medicare Advantage plans offer routine dental benefits? If you’re unsure about your coverage, we’re here to help you understand your options.
Happy brushing! 😁
