If your provisional income (AGI + nontaxable interest + half your SS) crosses $25,000 single / $32,000 married, up to 50% of your benefits get taxed.

Above $34,000 single / $44,000 married — up to 85% taxable.

Those thresholds were set in 1983 and never indexed for inflation. Almost everyone with retirement savings hits the 85% tier.

The order you pull from accounts (taxable, traditional, Roth) directly changes how much of your SS gets taxed. Worth planning.

Most damaging Social Security mistake: a husband claims early at 62 to get income flowing, then dies at 71. The wife had her own smaller benefit. She's now stuck on his reduced amount for the next 20 years.

The rule: a surviving spouse can take their own benefit OR step up to the deceased spouse's benefit, whichever is higher. They cannot take both.

The fix: higher earner waits as long as possible. Lower earner can claim earlier if needed for cash flow.

Filing Social Security at 62 doesn't just shrink your check. It also locks in a smaller survivor benefit for your spouse — for the rest of THEIR life.

$2,400/month at FRA becomes $1,680/month at 62. That reduction follows the surviving spouse too.

Sometimes 62 is the right call. Health issues. No other income. But it should be a deliberate choice, not the default.

Three ages decide what your Social Security check looks like for the rest of your life:

62 — earliest you can claim. Permanent ~30% reduction.
Full Retirement Age (66 or 67 depending on birth year) — 100% of your earned benefit.
70 — the latest it makes sense to wait. Each year past FRA adds 8% to your check, permanently.

The choice between these three ages is worth six figures over a typical retirement. Most people don't know that.

Save this. You'll want it before you file.T

Tell me if I’m wrong:
Drivers will spend $400 on chrome,
$300 on tools,
$200 on fuel additives,
but freeze up on $1–$3 a day to protect their income and family.

Why are truckers willing to insure the rig
but not themselves?

Comment your take. I want to hear from drivers, not gurus.

Every week I talk to drivers who say the same line:
“I’ll get insurance later.”

Later is how families end up starting GoFundMes.

You protect your truck with insurance…
but you don’t protect the person driving it?

What’s the real reason you’re putting it off?
Be straight. I hear everything

Most drivers think the real danger is a wreck. Wrong.
The real danger is getting hurt off the road and losing the paycheck that keeps everything together.

If your truck sits… your bills don’t.

Quick question for every driver reading this:
If you were out 60 days with an injury, who’s paying your rent, car note, and food?

Drop your honest answer below. No tough-guy stuff. Real talk.

Most truckers don’t realize this, but an IUL ends up being the one thing that protects your money and your family when the road throws life at you.

Here’s the truth nobody tells drivers:

• TRUCKING MONEY ISN’T CONSISTENT.
One month you’re up, next month you’re down, freight slows, brokers lowball you, repairs wipe out a whole week. Most life insurance collapses when money gets tight. An IUL doesn’t. You can scale up, scale down, or pause without losing everything you built. It’s built for people who don’t get a steady paycheck.

• YOUR HEALTH IS THE REAL THREAT.
Most drivers worry more about the truck than the body driving it. Long hours, stress, blood pressure, sleep issues — all it takes is one diagnosis and you can’t pass a DOT physical. That’s your income gone overnight.
Living Benefits inside an IUL hand you tax-free cash if a heart issue, cancer, stroke, or chronic illness hits. That means keeping the truck, keeping the house, keeping your family from drowning.

• NO PENSION. NO 401(k). NO SAFETY NET.
Trucking doesn’t hand you retirement. Most drivers jump job to job or run 1099, so nothing gets saved long-term. An IUL grows tax-free, protects your money from market crashes, and turns into a tax-free retirement check later — something trucking will never give you.

Most drivers don’t buy an IUL because it’s “insurance.”
They buy it because they’re tired of being one breakdown, one doctor visit, or one slow season away from losing everything they’ve worked for.

If you’re a driver and want a simple breakdown of how this works and what you actually qualify for, comment “INFO” or message me directly.
