June 1st, 2026.

My first official day as a State Farm agency owner.

Thank you to my dad, who flew in from Texas to help me set up my office.

If you asked me what hard work looks like, I’d show you a picture of my dad.

It was busy from the moment the doors opened — introducing myself to customers, speaking with them, helping with their insurance needs, and getting my team set up for the road ahead.

And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Day one is officially in the books.

She’s still learning the business world, but she already has the uniform, the confidence, and the ability to make it impossible to say no.

I had the honor of meeting Kristyn Cook, Executive Vice President and Chief Agency, Sales & Marketing Officer at State Farm.

She took the time to answer my questions, share meaningful advice, and encourage me as I prepare to open my agency in Manhattan Beach, serving Los Angeles County, on June 1.

At the end of our conversation, she told me to email her once my agency reaches our goals — a gesture I appreciated.

I’m grateful to be part of a company with excellent leadership.

These are my confessions… smiling because I secured Usher & Chris Brown tickets for my entire team.

At my agency, we believe in working hard — extremely hard — and playing hard too.

I have one more in-office position available in Manhattan Beach, and I’m looking for a bilingual Spanish-speaking team member.

A closed door is better than never knocking.

I get rejected for a living.

But even then, fear still showed up when it was time to reach out to the State Farm agent whose torch I now get to carry as I help serve his existing customers.

If I had let that fear win, I would’ve missed a moment I’ll carry with me for a long time.

He pulled up in my dream car — the same car I have as my wallpaper on my work laptop — showed me the office he built over more than 35 years with panoramic ocean views, and shared stories from his journey that I won’t forget.

The biggest lesson he left me with was simple:

Put the customer first. Always.

That moment reminded me that the doors we hesitate to knock on often hold the opportunities that shape us most.

Rejection is part of the path. And as someone who thinks about risk every day, I know the bigger risk is sometimes the opportunity you never gave yourself the chance to find.
