spotlight: William McWhorter of Gans & Smith Insurance Agency, Inc. ✨

William entered the insurance industry seven years ago after looking for a new professional path in his hometown of Longview. Encouraged by his dad, who was a partner at the agency, he decided to give insurance a shot, a decision he now calls the best one he’s ever made.

One of the most meaningful parts of his career was getting the opportunity to work alongside his dad before retirement, something he says became more of a blessing than he ever could have imagined. He also shared that the industry ultimately led him to his wife Olivia after the two met while he was working a local builders show. Earlier this year, they welcomed their son Hampton.

William believes the biggest changes ahead for the industry will come through AI and technology, helping agencies work more efficiently and serve clients better. But he’s also quick to point out that relationships will continue to be what keeps independent agents valuable for the long-term.
