This year, the IRS launched a new, easier way for taxpayers to confidentially report suspected tax fraud, scams, identity theft, and other tax-related illegal activity.
The “Report Fraud” hub on IRS.gov simplifies the process by putting multiple reporting options all in one place. Taxpayers can now quickly report:
✔️ Tax fraud or scams
✔️ Identity theft involving SSNs, ITINs, or EINs
✔️ Fake IRS emails, texts, calls, or messages
✔️ Fraudulent tax return preparers
According to the IRS, these updates are designed to make reporting suspicious activity easier while helping protect the integrity of the tax system.
