The Fed finally cut rates! At their September meeting, the Board voted to slash policy rates by 0.50% and projected more cuts to come this year. The Fed doesn't control mortgage rates directly, but rates had already fallen in anticipation. There may be advantages to making your move now rather than waiting on the Fed to act again. The excitement of buying a new home can be blinding.

Seriously, it’s easy to put the blinders on and not see things that might make you question your decision. But, it’s also easy to not focus on the things you can’t see

That’s why I want to highlight 3 areas you shouldn’t ignore when buying a home:

1. The Plumbing: Yes, an inspector will check to make sure the toilets and sinks work, as well as the pipes under the sinks. But, unless you hire a professional plumber to do a full scope, you could miss some hidden leaks or clogs that could cost you in the future.

2. The Wiring: Similar to the advice above, have an electrician come out and do a thorough investigation of the home’s electrical system. We don’t want any fires.

3. The Pool: An inspector will check the pool and the system, but they won’t be able to check for leaks. Get a specialist out to ensure you’re in the clear.
