On Tuesday, August 25, team member, Rebecca, joined ILWU Local 5 in celebrating an exciting set of milestones. Local 5 turned 26 years old and hit 1,000 members strong this month! At their general membership meeting, ILWU Credit Union was honored to present two of the four Cal Hudson Bike Scholarships awarded to Local 5 members alongside the legend Cal Hudson himself. Cal is a former Local 5 Union Rep whose passion for biking led to Local 5 establishing a scholarship in his name, to help subsidize alternate forms of transportation for Local 5 members. We are grateful for our partnership with Local 5 and hope you’ll join us in celebrating their many accomplishments!

ILWU Credit Union co-hosted a reception with ILWU Canada for the International Executive Board Delegates on Wednesday, August 19, at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel in Vancouver, Canada. As part of the ILWU Credit Union door prize drawing, Ross “The Boss” Goweha of ILWU Local 100 and Myka Dubay of ILWU Local 5 each won a $100 cash prize. 💵🎉

Portland has a volcano in the middle of the city, and this past weekend ILWU Local 8’s Team “Terminal Velocity” raced their homemade ship-themed car down it! ILWU Credit Union team member, Rebecca, along with dozens from the ILWU community, attended the Portland Adult Soapbox Derby at Mt. Tabor. It’s one of the city’s most beloved, wonderfully weird summer traditions, and we were proud to be there cheering on the crew: Racers Cory Rich, Dakoda Camberg, as well as Lily Womack, Brandon Lee, Austin Adair, and Bryan Banta. Also, shoutout to Geri Cranston for her hard-working volunteering skills!

Another great day on the course! ⛳️
Team ILWU Credit Union was proud to sponsor and participate in the ILWU Columbia River Golf Tournament at Rose City Golf Course in Portland on July 17. This annual event brings longshore friends together to have some fun, strengthen bonds and honor legends lost.

This year's tournament also raised funds for the local nonprofit “Michelle's Love”, whose mission is to ease the financial and emotional burdens faced by single parents undergoing cancer treatment.

ILWU Credit Union was honored to sponsor the Par-3 KP contest, raffle prizes, player hats, and swag bags. Congratulations to Team Monahan for taking 1st place and to John Philbrook for winning the KP contest! 🎉

A special thank you to tournament organizer, Eric King, for inviting ILWU Credit Union to be part of this wonderful event, as well as Shelby Palmer and George O'Neil for their hard work in helping the tournament run so smoothly.
