Kick off the Randy Smith Christmas Parade in the Christmas Capital of Kentucky with our beloved Book Walk, a tradition that warms the whole town.

Memorial Tree to Be Lit on Friday Evening
The Norway Spruce at the Farmers Market this season will serve as a public memorial to the 18 individuals who lost their lives in the May 2025 tornado. While the official record for Laurel County had been 17 deaths directly attributed to the storm, Coroner Doug Bowling confirmed that an additional victim passed away this week from injuries sustained during the storm.
Eighteen Moravian Stars have been placed on the tree, each with a red bow, to honor the lives lost. The star at the top symbolizes hope as recovery continues. The Norway Spruce, transplanted to the Farmers Market in 2012 after being donated by a former City of London employee, has been traditionally decorated each Christmas season but carries a unique purpose this year.
The tree will be officially lit on Friday, Dec. 5 following the Randy Smith Christmas on Main Parade. The parade begins at 7:00 p.m. Additional event details are available at www.VisitLondonKY.com/Christmas.
The memorial tree will remain lit throughout the holiday season, offering residents and visitors a place to reflect and remember.
