Anyone can be good at something for 24 hours… BUT CAN YOU MAKE IT LAST? Here’s a few tips on outlasting the one hit wonders!
1. Allow room for change while you have momentum. Many people only learn to change after taking tough losses and losing momentum. It's easier to make adjustments that will bring you growth while you have momentum before waiting until the train stops.
2. Continue working on the self-mastery of personal growth before mastering the growth of others. Although it can be easier to work on others, don’t allow a few personal successes to stop the work on developing your own mind and habits. Success starts with you first.
3. Keep working on the fundamentals. The fundamentals is the foundation you built success on, and it's the same foundation you will need to continue to build on. As other areas evolve, we must stay consistent on working on fundamentals and keeping a similar work ethic.
4.Humility - Stay open to coaching. Once people have success they tend to not be as open and can gain arrogant tendencies. Stay humble and listen to what your coaches are telling you.
5. Continued Homework. It's tempting to have the, “ahhh I get to relax now,” mindset once you have success. Have you heard the quote, “Success is rented and the rent is due every day?” As you progress into leadership, your workload might shift and you’ll have different responsibilities -- but you’re still going to have to work hard! There’s nothing wrong with a few breaks here and there, but don’t allow a few successes to stop your momentum. If you aren’t consistently working hard, over time your run will be short-lived and you will have to rebuild.
