The year begins off string for many folks in the Futurity Money Earners 2024 Buckle Chase. “The Wi******er”, as it’s become known, has built a reputation of the first stop of the year to really judge your cattle against others for the year and get a good look at some upcoming competition.

Beginning the year on top is the 2x defending Exhibitor of the Year, Wayne & Joanna Manning of M7 Longhorns followed closing by John & Christy Randolph of Lonesome Pines Longhorn Ranch. The Randolphs have finished in the Top 5 for the entirety of the Futurity Money Earners Buckle Chase. John Oliver of Oliver Longhorns had a fantastic weekend with a couple of really high scoring cattle as well as Mac & Andrea Siller of Siller Longhorns who came all the way from the west coast to participate. Rounding out the Top 5 is Jeremmy & Lindsey McEntire of McEntire Farms with some great top finishes from their show string.

Next up on the list? Battle on the Prairie with Joshua & Kit Dinwiddie of Plain Dirt Farms on April 26th.

The 2024 Futurity Money Earners List sponsored by Hired Hand Websites has begun!

Last weekend the Wi******er Futurity kicked off the year as they have the last three years of the Futurity Money Eaners List. Jennifer Francis does a great job organizing it and a lot of folks use it as a great starting point for the year to judge their show string against many others in the southern part of the country. Dare I say it’s comparable to the Daytona 500?

As the Bull of the Year competition kicks off, Pearl Snap BCB takes the early lead. Owned by Matt Bourbon of Bourbon Brothers Livestock and Jim & Ainslie Lawinger of Flatland Longhorns, Pearl Snap BCB is the 2021 Bull of the Year, 2021 Producer of the Year, and 2022 the Producer of the Year, was 2nd in the Bull of the Year in the 2022, 3rd in the 2023 Bull of the Year, and 3rd in the 2023 Producer of the Year.

As many saw last week from the TLBAA we finally got the last of the 2023 Futurity numbers turned in and were able to get the final numbers posted!

Over $1,000,000 in total earned money to date.

The 2024 year is already kicking off sponsored by Hired Hand Websites for the 3rd year in a row (thank you Molly Clubb & Jaymie Feldmann). We have futurities already on the list and would love to have yours too. The first up is the Wi******er Futurity on March 2nd in College Station, TX.

After 22 events with 3 remaining, here's how we fall thus far. The Bull of the Year is exciting as there's a lot of progeny out there on these top bulls. The cows are just as exciting!

Still remaining is the Pineywoods Futurity, the Peach Showout, and the Edna Winterfest (that we just got today, thank you Kathy!)

After 21 events! We got the Legends Futurity added. There's been some movement amongst the Top 5 with M.C. Hangin' Tuff moving into the runner-up position.

Last year the season paid out $311,704.23 with 757 checks. This year with three events remaining the series has paid out $325,120.97 with 918 checks. It's incredible.

After 20 events the numbers and position move again, not just on the bulls but all across the board. The Millennium Futurity came through with the largest payout of the year. Check out the results as we work through the closing of this year's 2023 Buckle Chase!

After 19 events Hubbells 20 Gauge still has a big lead and is continuing to do well. He's set a new record for a bull already this year!

Interest observations on Top 5 bulls.
- Pearl Snap BCB has consistently been in the Top 5 for the lifetime of the Futurity Money Earner's List.
- Tuxedo is on the list with a very very small number of offspring showing.
- MC Hangin Tuff is the youngest bull on this is as a 6 year old.
- Gold Mine 1 has never broken the Top 5 until this year
