Some history about the new home of White’s Senior Solutions
🏛️ Throwback Thursday – The Bank Building (Downtown Livermore Falls) 🏛️
This week we’re shining a light on one of Livermore Falls’ historic landmarks — the old Bank Building on Main Street, long known locally as such and recognizable by its distinctive structure in early town photos.
Originally part of the Livermore Falls Trust and Banking Company, the bank was tied to some of the community’s earliest commercial growth and architectural development. The building was associated with prominent local architects of the era, including Harry S. Coombs and partners, who were responsible for its design and later alterations stretching back to the turn of the 20th century.
In its heyday, the bank wasn’t just a place of business — it was also home to the Livermore Falls Library Association. The library opened its doors on the second floor in 1901, serving readers and learners in the community for many years.
Like many historic buildings of the era, it saw periods of change and even loss; a major fire in 1910 destroyed much of the Sharaf Building block of which the bank was part, reshaping the downtown area.
Today, memories of the Bank Building help connect us to Livermore Falls’ past — a time when Main Street bustled with local commerce, community gatherings, and shared civic life.
