Understanding common medical terms can help you feel more confident during provider visits and when reviewing your health information. Here are 5 important medical terms you should know:

1️⃣ Benign
Something that is benign is not cancerous and won't spread throughout your body. Sometimes benign tumors or lesions can cause problems of their own, but they aren't cancerous and won't invade nearby tissue.

2️⃣ Malignant
Something that is malignant means it has cancerous cells and can spread to other tissue throughout your body.

3️⃣ Hypertension
Hypertension is the medical term for high blood pressure. High blood pressure starts at 130 systolic (the top number) and 80 diastolic (the lower number). Elevated blood pressure is 120-129/70-79; a healthy blood pressure is generally
