📣 SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT- THIS is the letter KATV Channel 7 called a fraud investigation. Notice who it's addressed to ALL HUD Grantees. Not People Trust.
Recent news coverage has falsely implied that People Trust is under investigation for fraud. This is completely untrue, and our community deserves the truth.
Here are the facts:
✅ No charges have been brought against People Trust
✅ No allegations have been made against People Trust or its leadership
✅ No findings of wrongdoing exist, by HUD, HUD OIG, or any authority
This is for EVERY HUD grantee in the country. It is a routine anti-fraud awareness notice, not an investigation, not an accusation, and not directed at PEOPLE TRUST specifically.
HUD's local field office is doing exactly what they are supposed to do, providing oversight of all grantees. We welcome that. We have nothing to hide and we have provided HUD all of the documentation and correspondence of compliance.
This is unfortunate for the participants and landlords who rely on this assistance for housing needs.
People Trust was built on integrity. We exist to serve this community, and we will continue to do that every single day, no matter who tries to tear us down with false reporting.
