Increases in healthcare is still outpacing compensation. Insurers warning benefit cuts may be necessary to advantages plans for 2027. But nothing has been decided yet, so temper expectations. Make sure to understand your ANOCs (Annual Notice of Change) that get mailed out in Sept. That will be your first notice if changes will occur to your current plan and of course it's important to always review plan options every year as changes occur such as plans entering or exiting your area.

Americans enrolled in Medicare Advantage health plans should expect to see fewer extra benefits like gym memberships and vision and dental coverage next year, investors and industry experts say.

Here's a good article discussing some of the big reasons the marketplace plans are pricey and why there's no solution to lower the premiums without taxpayers continuing to take on the burden.

There is no one size fits all solution to healthcare and that's why Hahn Family Insurance offers marketplace plans, non-marketplace plans, and supplemental plans to help with catastrophic cases.

As many of you may have seen on the news and websites, in regards to Health insurance premiums seeing increases, some saying massive increases this isn't totally out of the realm of reality.
First these articles are talking about the premiums for the Marketplace Plans (Obamacare/Affordable Care Act/ACA Plans). In 2020, when COVID hit, Congress acted by approving the enhanced premium tax credits (ePTCs) that helped lowering the cost individual see for their premiums. This is what has helped the government tout such high enrollment numbers and claims of many people seeing premiums $15/mo or less.
Now as we reach the end of 2025 these ePTCs are set to expire leaving the original premium tax credits in play. As of now congress has yet to approve extending the ePTCs but have not been ruled out.

Long story short, as of now if you have your health insurance through the marketplace you can expect to see your share of the health insurance premiums go up. By how much is not an easy question, it will vary from state by state and county by county.

Remember Open Enrollment Period starts Nov 1st and runs through Jan 15th for most states. If you have questions don't hesitate to reach out for assistance this OEP.

Part D changes for 2025 have many ramifications, even if you have elected to put off getting Part D because of having credible coverage through your employer. The new changes may make your employers coverage not creditable anymore. So how do you know:

The government requires employers to tell all Medicare-eligible individuals who are covered under the entity’s prescription drug plan if their prescription drug coverage is "creditable." This means the coverage is expected to pay as much as the standard Medicare prescription drug coverage.

What do I need to know?

1) Penalty for lack of creditable coverage: People 65 or older who don't have creditable coverage may face a lifetime penalty on their Medicare premiums.
2) How the penalty is calculated: The penalty is based on how many months the member was without Part D or creditable coverage.
3) Employer's responsibility: Employers aren't required to offer creditable coverage, but many do. They must notify employees and dependents about their plan’s creditable coverage status at least once a year by October 15th
4) Changes in 2025: The Medicare Prescription Drug (Part D) Coverage is changing in 2025, which may affect the creditable coverage status of many employer-sponsored plans.
5) Member's choice: Employees and dependents need to know if their coverage is creditable so they can decide whether to enroll in a Medicare Part D plan or risk a penalty.

Learn your options:
1) Do nothing: Employees/dependents can choose to stay with the current plan and incur the penalty, switch to another plan, or enroll in Medicare Part D
2) Make changes: The client can adjust their plan to meet the creditable coverage requirements. Check out our standard plan designs linked below
3) Many companies can offer an employer group waiver plan (EGWP) to retirees
