There’s something about spring that whispers “fresh start” through open windows and longer days. If you’re already in the mood to reset your space, it’s the perfect time to rethink what you’re using to clean it, too. Many conventional cleaning products come with a long list of ingredients that can be harsh on your lungs, skin, and overall environment. The good news? You can create effective, simple, and lower-tox alternatives with just a handful of staples.

Your DIY Cleaning Starter Kit

Before you begin, gather these basic ingredients. Think of them as your “cleaning pantry”—versatile, affordable, and surprisingly powerful:

- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Castile soap (liquid)
- Lemon juice (fresh or bottled)
- Essential oils (optional, for scent—like lemon, tea tree, or lavender)
- Distilled water
- Spray bottles and reusable cloths

With these few items, you can mix and match your way to a cleaner home without the chemical cloud.

1. All-Purpose Cleaner
Great for countertops, surfaces, and everyday messes.

- 1 cup water
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 10–15 drops essential oil (optional)

Mix in a spray bottle and shake gently. Avoid using on natural stone like granite or marble, as vinegar can be too acidic.

---

2. Streak-Free Glass Cleaner
For mirrors, windows, and anything that should sparkle.

- 1 cup water
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon rubbing alcohol (optional, for extra shine)

Spray lightly and wipe with a lint-free cloth or newspaper for that satisfying, streak-free finish.

---

3. Floor Cleaner
Safe for most sealed floors (always spot test first).

- 1-gallon warm water
- ½ cup white vinegar
- 1–2 teaspoons Castile soap

This combo cuts through dirt while being gentle enough for regular use. For a light scent, add a few drops of essential oil.

Insurance can be confusing—and that's exactly why working with a licensed insurance agent matters.

Whether you're turning 65 and exploring Medicare, retiring early and shopping for individual or family health insurance, or simply reviewing your current coverage, a licensed agent can help you understand your options, compare plans, and make informed decisions based on your unique needs and budget.

Unlike trying to sort through dozens of plans on your own, an agent provides personalized guidance, answers your questions, and serves as a trusted resource long after enrollment. When regulations change, life circumstances shift, or you simply need help, you have someone in your corner.

At Midwestern Wellness & Insurance Agency, we believe insurance isn't just about policies—it's about helping our neighbors protect their health, finances, and peace of mind.

Have questions about Medicare, long term care or individual/family health insurance? Kerry and Laura are here to help!

Today, our community joins millions of Americans in honoring the brave service members who gave their lives in defense of our country.

As you attend local ceremonies, spend time with loved ones, or enjoy the holiday weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember those who made our freedoms possible.

From all of us at Midwestern Wellness & Insurance Agency, thank you to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, and to the families and communities that honor their memory every day.

We wish you a safe, meaningful, and memorable Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

Are you looking for a quick and healthy dinner idea? Laura is obsessed with this Southwest Stuffed Pepper recipe! Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Ingredients:
6 bell peppers, mixed colors
2 TBSP avocado or olive oil
1 small onion, diced
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 lb ground turkey, chicken, or bison
1 tsp each of cumin, paprika, & chili powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
3 TBSP tomato paste
1 can of fire roasted diced tomatoes
1 can of black beans, drained and rinsed
1 1/2 cups corn fresh, canned, or frozen
1/2 cup cilantro

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 425
Cut the tops off your bell peppers and scoop out the seeds
Chop up the pepper from the top you've cut off into small pieces
Add peppers to a parchment lined baking sheet, cut side down, and drizzle with oil, using your hands to ensure the peppers are evenly coated
Roast in your preheated oven for 25 minutes
Heat a drizzle of oil in a large skillet on medium heat
Add your onion and cook for 3-5 minutes then add your garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds
Add your ground meat, spices, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking up into small pieces
Once the meat has browned, add your tomato paste, fire roasted tomatoes, beans, corn, and sliced peppers and cook over medium-low heat covered for 12-15 minutes
Add your cilantro to your meat mixture and cook for 2-3 minutes
Once your peppers are cooked and your stuffing mixture is prepared, stuff your peppers, and return to the oven for 5 minutes
Remove from oven, top with cilantro and ENJOY!

Medicare can feel overwhelming — but understanding the basics can help you avoid costly mistakes later. Here are a few important things everyone turning 65 should know:

✔️ Medicare is not completely free
While Part A is often premium-free, most people still pay for Part B, prescriptions, and other healthcare costs.

✔️ Timing matters
Your Initial Enrollment Period begins 3 months before your 65th birthday month and ends 3 months after. Missing deadlines can lead to lifelong penalties.

✔️ Original Medicare doesn’t cover everything
Dental, vision, hearing aids, and long-term care are generally not covered.

✔️ You have options
Many people choose additional coverage like Medicare Supplement plans, Medicare Advantage plans, or Part D prescription coverage based on their needs and budget.

✔️ Annual reviews are important
Plans, drug formularies, and costs can change every year. Reviewing your coverage annually helps make sure your plan still fits your needs.

The good news? You don’t have to figure it out alone. A little education now can save you stress and money later.

If you or someone you know is approaching Medicare eligibility, we’re always happy to answer questions and help make Medicare easier to understand!
