Had a great time learning about Nationwide’s Farm program this morning.

One takeaway was a lot of farm policies run separate deductibles, like a $2,500 all-peril and a $5,000 wind/hail. Since most claims around here end up being wind/hail anyway, matching both deductibles at $5,000 can lower your premium without giving up much. A lot of good insight today!

Hard to believe another school year is right around the corner. Here’s a throwback to when I turned 16…

If your teen is getting ready to get behind the wheel, don’t forget to ask about discounts. Driver’s ed and good grades can both help lower insurance premiums with many carriers. Every carrier is a little different, so it’s worth checking what discounts are available for your younger drivers.

A lot of people don’t realize how much wind and hail deductibles have changed.

Most carriers have moved away from flat deductibles and gone to 1% to 2% of your home’s value. On a $400k home that’s $4,000 to $8,000 out of pocket before your insurance touches anything.

If you’ve got a flat deductible right now, don’t sleep on it. That’s harder to find than it used to be.
