Sports have been a big part of our family for generations.

While I never wanted sports to define my kids, I absolutely loved watching them compete, grow, overcome challenges, and build lifelong friendships through the games they played.

Sports taught me so much—discipline, teamwork, perseverance, humility, and how to handle both success and disappointment.

So I’ll admit it… seeing Lennyn holding a basketball gave me a little goosebump moment. 🏀❤️

No pressure, young lady.

Whether she chooses sports, music, art, academics, or something completely different, my hope is simply that she finds something she loves and people who encourage her along the way.

But if she decides to pick up a basketball someday, Grandpa “G” will definitely be in the front row cheering.

Aging is interesting.

In my 20s, I could eat about anything, skip workouts, and somehow still feel pretty good.

My 50s have introduced me to a different reality. 😄

This year I’ve been working through my personal health checklist:
✅ Annual physical
✅ Colonoscopy (ugh…)
✅ Dentist visit and a crown
⬜ Eye exam next

I’m also working on building better daily habits:
🚶 More walking
🧘 More stretching and mobility
🥗 Better eating
🧠 Better attention to mental health

Am I where I want to be? Nope.

But I’ve realized something important: doing nothing today won’t make me feel better a year from now.

One of the biggest motivators these days is a little granddaughter named Lennyn. I want to be healthy enough to enjoy all the moments ahead—whether that’s basketball games, school events, family vacations, or simply sitting on the floor making her laugh.

I’ve also noticed a shift in priorities. Less chasing. More appreciating.

The word that keeps coming to mind lately is contentment.
Not settling.
Not quitting.
Just learning to appreciate what matters most while continuing to improve where I can.

To all the men in their 50s (and beyond): schedule the appointment, take the walk, make the healthier choice, and take care of your mental health too.

Your future self—and the people who love you—will thank you.

As investors look beyond Middle East tensions, U.S. economic fundamentals are coming into sharper focus, driven by an accelerating AI investment and robust corporate profit growth, reinforcing the constructive case for equities. However, elevated inflation may keep rate cuts off the table and limit near-term progress in bond markets.

Senior Economist James McCann explains what this could mean for investors in our Weekly Market Wrap.

One year old… and somehow already the size of a small horse. 😄
*My wife hates it when people make that comparison.

Ledgie is still growing, so we figured it was time for a raised feeding station to make eating and drinking a little easier on her long legs and neck.

Simple project. Personalized touch. Functional. And of course built sturdy enough for a Great Dane who thinks she owns the house.

The funny thing about dogs — especially Danes — is they slowly become part pet, part family member, part home décor coordinator.

We sure love this goofy girl. ❤️🐾

A little “Lenny time” goes a long way. ❤️

I’m learning there’s almost nothing we won’t do to get a granddaughter to smile. Funny noises, ridiculous faces, laying on the floor… all worth it.

Being a grandpa is already one of life’s greatest gifts. The pace slows down a little, the little moments mean a lot more, and somehow one smile can completely change your day.

I’ve officially requested to be called “G.” 😎
We’ll see if it sticks.

What a precious blessing this little girl is.

Today I attended the “Empty Bowls” fundraiser benefiting the Food Bank of Lincoln, and it was a powerful reminder that hunger exists much closer to home than many of us realize.

Local restaurants and vendors donated soups and desserts, volunteers showed up in force, and our community came together around a simple idea: no one should go hungry.

I’m proud that Edward Jones helped sponsor the event, but even more grateful for organizations like the Food Bank of Lincoln and the people working behind the scenes every day to serve families in need.

It’s easy to assume food insecurity is someone else’s problem or something happening somewhere else. The reality is there are kids, families, and seniors right here in our own community who depend on these resources.

Grateful for the invitation, the conversation, the soup… and the reminder that small acts of generosity truly matter. ❤️🥣

BTW - My favorite soup was Aaron Young's with ChefauChef Catering - Yum!
