Winter weather advisory does continue until noon today for kansas city as well as for Dougas, Jefferson, and Shawnee counties out to the west…

Additional snow accumulations today should range from 2-3 inches near the Iowa border as the KC metro picks up a half inch to 1 inch possible, there may also be a little ice under the snow so roads as well as elevated surfaces maybe slick. Be sure you use some caution

For today expect occasional snow showers with windy conditions as well, high temps will range from 15-20 degrees with a northwest wind between 20-30 mph, wind chills this afternoon will be in the low teens to single digits for some

For the weekend it will be bitterly cold with overcast skies and high temps around 0 to about 6 degrees, wind chills will be -15 to -20 degrees below zero as well, please layer up if you have to be out in the dangerous cold this weekend

Stay safe everyone!

❗ The Kansas City metro has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning for today and Tuesday. Here's what is happening...

The upper-level low and surface low are taking a slightly more farther south track. This is a subtle change: perhaps only 50-75 miles. The surface low also appears to be just a tad stronger. These forces will result in greater lift, cooling and saturation of the air over Kansas City this afternoon through tomorrow morning. The overall impact will be for the potential of slightly higher snowfall amounts for the metro area: 3'' to 6'' +/- an inch or so to account for melting and compaction. Meanwhile, locations north of Kansas City are still in for widespread 6'' to 12'' totals.

This storm will continue to evolve as it impacts our region over the next 24 hours and additional adjustments may be necessary. KMBC 9

This is such a neat opportunity for one of our talented, local art teachers to showcase her talents in the Parade of Hearts! We can’t wait to see how it turns out! ❤️

Franklin Elementary art teacher Melissa Allshouse was chosen to design a heart for the next round of Kansas City's Parade of Hearts. She brought her heart to school so students can see what she's working on. She's also teaching her classes about giving back to the community (as the hearts are auctioned off to support charities) and finding new inspirations for her heart. What an amazing opportunity!
