Like many, I'm preparing for a long weekend, observing Memorial Day on Monday. But it isn't just a long weekend or backyard cookouts that my thoughts drift to. I find myself reflecting on a place that always brings perspective—Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC. I watched marines place row after row of American flags marking each headstone, and the sight was humbling and powerful. Each flag represents a life given in service, a story of courage, and a sacrifice that made our freedoms possible.
It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, but this place reminds me to pause—to truly pause—and HONOR the memory of the courageous individuals who gave everything for our great nation. Because of their sacrifice, we’re able to enjoy the many blessings and freedoms we often take for granted.
Monday is a time to remember, to reflect, and to be grateful. Let’s take a moment this long Memorial Day weekend to honor those who never made it home and carry their legacy forward—not just today, but every day.
