Many people confuse Form W-4 and Form W-2, but they serve two very different purposes.
A Form W-4 is completed when you start a job and tells your employer how much tax to withhold from your paycheck.
A Form W-2 is the form you receive after the end of the year showing your wages, taxes withheld, and other important information needed to file your tax return.
Understanding the difference can help you make informed decisions about your paycheck and avoid surprises during tax season.
If your refund was smaller than expected or you owed taxes this year, it may be time to review your W-4.
