It’s the news you’ve been waiting for! Paper can once again be recycled in your blue recycle carts! Not only that, but cartons - such as for milk, soup and broth - have been added to the acceptable items list.

The following items can now go in your blue curbside recycling cart and the mixed recycling dumpsters:
• aluminum cans
• steel cans, canisters and lids
• #1 and #2 plastic bottles, jars and jugs
• paper
• cartons
• glass bottles and jars
• cardboard
• and paperboard

Never bag recycling. Recyclables should be clean and dry. A downloadable flyer of acceptable materials is available at LexingtonKY.gov/Recycle.

Daylight saving time doesn’t give you more sunshine or daylight, it just shifts your “awake” time. It’s darker in the morning and lighter at night.

The reason we begin to see more daylight this time of year is because of the tilt of the earth. In spring and summer months, the earth is tilted towards the sun instead of away from the sun. That’s why you have more daylight. If the earth wasn’t tilted, we wouldn’t have four seasons. We would have one season all year long.
