🚩 Liability tip: Always make sure to post the current state-applicable equine/farm warning notices on your farm. They should be visible & clean enough to read! 😅
However… DON’T ASSUME that’s enough to protect you against lawsuits!! You should also have every visitor sign a well-written liability waiver (also including this wording). That, along with proper safety protocols in place, will go a long way to protect you, your property, and others.

FYI, Kentucky horse owners - there’s been a report of EHV (respiratory strain) in KY.
Take care of your horses!

Equine herpesvirus (EHV) is a family of equine viruses named by numbers including EHV-1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 with EHV-1,3,4 posing the most risk for domestic horses. EHV is a common DNA virus that occurs in horse populations worldwide. The two most common species are EHV-1 and EHV-4.

I just learned today that Kentucky Farm Bureau may be dropping clients due to changes in equine liability coverage.
This is common with insurance carriers who don’t specialize in Equine-specific risks. Some are simply not prepared for the depth of offerings in our industry.
