AEP is here, and my heart is full of gratitude. 🙏🏻

As I head into another busy Annual Enrollment Period, I’m reminded that this business has never been just about insurance. It’s about people. It’s about the phone calls, the conversations, the trust you place in me, and the relationships that grow along the way.

Thank you to every client who has trusted me to help navigate this process, every friend who has referred someone my way, and every person who has supported my small business over the years. Your trust means more to me than you know!

As I begin another AEP, I’m especially thankful that I get to do work that matters, serve my community, and build relationships that often turn clients into friends. ❤️

If anyone needs a reminder of why you have an agent…

I just called an insurance carrier with a question on behalf of a client.

The automated system sent me around and around for FIVE MINUTES while I slowly lost my marbles…

“REPRESENTATIVE. REPRESENTATIVE. GIVE ME A HUMAN. 00000000. AGENT. PERSON. ANYONE?!”

FINALLY, the system initiated a transfer.

And then…

I GOT DISCONNECTED. 🫠

This is exactly why having an agent matters.

If you have an agent, this is my problem.
If you don’t have an agent, this becomes YOUR problem.

You can do it on your own…But why in the world would you want to?!

This comes up a lot...and it's an excellent question.

"I have a phone appointment with SSA to start Part A and B, but what do I say?"

My best advice:
1. Be very clear and repeat yourself periodically.
2. Make sure they understand when you want your Part A AND Part B to be effective at the beginning of the call, and confirm before hanging up.
3. Ask them when you should expect your physical card to arrive.
4. Write down a reference/confirmation number.

You can sign up for Part A and B online at https://www.ssa.gov/medicare/sign-up, but be very careful in how you answer the questions, as an error here can delay your coverage for months.
