Work Safe Wednesday Safety Tip: Working with and around chemicals can be dangerous to employees, students, and fellow staff while in an educational environment. Make sure all chemicals are properly stored in closets and cabinets, containers are properly labeled, and Safety Data Sheets are available for review. Ensure no mixing of chemicals, and it is imperative to properly train all employees on chemical use. The best way to ensure safety is to avoid using your cell phone while driving altogether. If you must make a call or send a message, pull over safely before doing so. Work Safe Wednesday Safety Tip: Improper tree felling is one of the leading causes of accidents in logging. Workers should always evaluate the tree’s lean, the wind direction, overhead hazards, and escape routes before cutting. Clear communication with the crew and maintaining a safe distance during felling further reduce risks. A well-planned approach prevents unpredictable tree movements that could endanger workers’ lives. https://worksafeky.com/safety-resources/safety-handouts/safe-work-practices-for-tree-harvesting-and-felling/

Work Safe Wednesday Safety Tip: Back-to-school time is here, and in the United States, more than 20 million children ride a yellow school bus to and from public schools each day. The classic yellow bus is one of the safest modes of transportation; let’s help ensure the safety of students and personnel by always stopping when the vehicle’s red lights are flashing and the stop sign is out. Also, observe all school zone speed limits and maintain a safe following distance behind a school bus. Please avoid distractions and practice safe driving habits. Visit www.worksafeky.com and https://worksafeky.com/safety-resources/education-safety/ for safety resources and tips.
