With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Chris Shewmaker. For many years, Chris was a cherished member of the Kentucky Growers Insurance family. Known for his kind heart and steady, even demeanor, he had a rare gift for putting those around him at ease. His subtle humor and dry wit, often delivered so seamlessly you barely noticed, brought lightness to our days and will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Our deepest condolences go out to his wife, Deana; his children, Zachary, Marc, and Payton; his mother, Martha Dell; and his brothers, Mark and Allen. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult time.

Chris's presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the stories we share and the lasting impact he made on all of us.

Rest in peace, Chris.

What an incredible day at the Kentucky Castle for our annual meeting! Our team at Kentucky Growers would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our agents and dedicated customer service representatives who joined us. It was a fantastic turnout, and it was truly wonderful to meet and talk with everyone.

The beautiful surroundings and the positive atmosphere added to the charm of the day. We hope you all enjoyed the experience as much as we did.

Another month is in the books, and we hope it’s been your best one yet. We want to take a few moments to introduce you to our friend, and president, Marc Evans.

Here are a few things we think you should know about Marc:
• He was born in upstate New York, but raised in Lexington. We don’t hold it against him.
• He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1996 with a degree in accounting.
• He has attended Bryan Station Baptist Church for 46 years.
• He's been happily married to Zerilda for 25 years.
• He’s the proud father of two handsome young men, Ryan (19) and Jake (16).

We’re celebrating 23 great years together. Thanks for all your hard work, Marc.

2021 marked the celebration of our 125th birthday. In October of 1896, a small group of citizens set out to serve their neighbors and their livelihoods. Back then, Kentucky looked a little different. Farms were a primary source of income. Horses were largely transportation — not entertainment. Good insurance was much needed, but hard to come by.

Led by JE Delph, who became our first president, the group of visionaries set up shop, painted Kentucky Growers Insurance Company on the window, and began serving 10 counties. In the 125 years since, we’ve never looked back. Today, we’re proud to serve neighbors across the state. We insure everything from farms and churches to your most prized personal possessions and your home.

Here’s to the next 125 years of serving the families that make Kentucky a better place to live.
