Finding a health insurance plan to cover all of your doctors and facilities is extremely important.
Medicare Supplement plans have no networks, so you can go to any facility that accepts Medicare.
Medicare Advantage plans have networks of doctors and facilities that the plan has contracts with that you may be required to use.

Beginning July 1, 2026, CMS is launching the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program, a temporary program designed to expand access to select GLP-1 medications for Medicare beneficiaries who do not qualify for Medicare Part D coverage for these medications.

What's Covered?
Eligible members may obtain select GLP-1 medications, including:
Wegovy® (injection and tablets)
Zepbound® (KwikPen®)
Founda™ (where applicable)

Member Cost: $50 per month
The program is scheduled to run from July 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027.

Who Should Use the Bridge Program?
- Enrolled into Medicare Part D coverage and currently do not qualify for GLP-1 coverage under your plan
- You meet certain BMI and health requirements

Prior Authorization will be tested in 2026, in some states, for Traditional Medicare. This is a new idea for Traditional Medicare, and historically has been hassle-free in this area. It will only be implemented in six states (NC not being one of them), and only for services that the HHS Department deems to be "vulnerable to fraud, waste, and abuse".

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will implement prior authorization requirements for certain traditional fee-for-service Medicare services in six states starting next year.
