Good morning 🌄. Thoughts for today: Jesus is now in His glorified body. This appearance of Jesus is the same evening that He had shown Himself to Mary at the sepulchre that morning. After their desertion of Jesus on the day of His crucifixion, the disciples probably expected words of rebuke or blame. Instead, Jesus brought a word of peace, reconciling peace, assuring the disciples that there was no cause for fear, and that all is well: for they were alarmed by His public demonstration of power and purpose. Jesus came to His cowardly, faithless, disciples, and stood in the midst of them, uttering the cheerful salutation: "Peace be unto you". Jesus assured them that He was actually Jesus of Nazareth and that He was really raised from the dead. Jesus gave His disciples a mission to continue His work on this earth. Jesus gave His disciples the Holy Spirit bringing new life and the ability to carry out their Spirit guided mission to preach the Good News. Jesus also gave the disciples authority to announce forgiveness and to warn of guilt, authorized by the Holy Spirit. All believers have this same privilege. John 20:19-23. Good morning 🌄. Thoughts for today: Paul recognized that a spiritual law cannot help a carnal man. He recognized that as he sins, he acts against his nature as a new man in Jesus Christ. A Christian must own up to his sin, yet realize that the impulse to sin does not come from who we really are in Christ. Paul found himself doing things he did not approve of. We see in (vs. 15), the struggle is truly between our flesh and spirit. Paul desires to have his spirit in control at all times. It is a struggle for all of us, that the flesh wins out sometimes. So, to live for Jesus, the spirit has to overcome the flesh. The quickest way to tell if you are following after the flesh, is if whatever you are doing feels good to the flesh. If the flesh is enjoying your actions, it is probably displeasing the spirit. No man's flesh follows God. Man's flesh must be crucified for the spirit to reign. The flesh serves as a base camp from which sin operates in the Christian's life. It is still subject to sin. Paul is trying to say that the flesh of man is a hinderance to him. Our spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. We must somehow get our flesh and the lusts from it under subjection to the Spirit of God within us. When we feel overwhelmed by sins appeal, let us claim the freedom Christ has given us. His power can lift us to victory. Romans 7:14-25. Have a safe, blessed, great, Thursday
