Ever look at your paycheck and wonder why the number you thought you earned isn’t the number that hits your bank account? Mind Your Money Mentor Dale Morgan explains the difference between gross pay and net pay, and why it matters!

πŸ’²GROSS PAY is the total amount you earned
πŸ’²NET PAY is the amount you actually keep
➑️ The difference is that tax, insurance, and retirement contributions come out of gross pay to equal net pay!

When you make your budget or take out a loan, you'll want to base it off of your NET pay (after tax/insurance/retirement) and not your gross pay! This is the best way to plan how you want to spend the money you actually have in your pocket.

Curious about credit? For this week's Mind Your Money Monday video with Dale Morgan, founder of Foundation47 LLC, Dale shares his story and what he wish he knew about credit!

The thing to know about credit is you don't want to buy more than you can spend! Just like compound interest can work in your favor in investing, it can work against you with credit interest debt. Tune in to hear Dale's experience!

If you want to reach out to Dale with questions, go to Foundation47LLC.com and go to the contact page!

Are you wanting to invest but not sure where to start? You're in luck! ⬇️

I asked Mind Your Money Mentor Quint Tatro for his best advice on how and where to start. His advice? Dollar-cost averaging with an index fund. But what does that mean?
Quint explains that you can buy fractional shares of an index fund (basket of companies) with whatever amount you have available to automatically invest on a monthly/weekly basis (dollar cost averaging). Let your money grow over the long term - set it and forget it!

Also remember to build investing into your budget! Set aside 10% of your income for investments to set yourself up best for retirement.

So much has changed... and yet so much hasn't πŸ₯ΉπŸ’™

4 years ago I was committing to the University of Kentucky to play flute and now I'm leaving with a grateful heart, so many incredible experiences, and 2 degrees πŸŽ“

I have grown and changed A LOT musically, personally, and professionally in college, but at the end of the day, I'm still the same girl who has a huge passion for working hard to be her best and enjoys sharing the music she loves with her friends and family πŸ’•

New chapters can be intimidating, but I have SEEN the Lord's faithfulness in my 4 years of college and I choose to have hope that what He has next for me will be good as well because HE is GOOD!

Graduation season is here, and you might find yourself wondering: What should my first (or next) financial step be after high school or college?

I sat down with financial advising expert Quint Tatro to ask what he wished HE knew about money when he was graduating!

His advice? Know where EVERY dollar goes! Because if you don't control your money, your money controls you!!

One way you can start to understand where every dollar goes is by tracking your expenses in the Mind Your Money App! Check out MindYourMoneyKY.com to download on your phone for free and begin taking control of your money!
