Yesterday afternoon, I received a text message from a realtor that I’ve worked with in the past (below for reference) asking if I could talk with her daughter about buying a new home. Of course I was excited for the opportunity but even more so, my focus remained on her last comment. Trust. That’s a pretty powerful word to throw around when you’re talking to someone about one of the largest decisions financially you’ll make in your life. And not only that, but this is someone saying she trusts me enough to secure financing for her own child to buy a home.
It’s so easy when you are in a heavy sales role where your paycheck is dictated by closing a deal to forget that there is a person behind the paperwork. The economic conditions have created a fierce, competitive environment where I sometimes feel like loyalty is completely out the window, but conversations like this remind me of the why. Whether I produce $1,000,000 per year or $100,000,000 per year in mortgage loans, none of it matters if my clients and business partners don’t know, like and trust me. So, to see and truly feel this message from this referral partner was a really cool way to end my Tuesday.
