Labor Day in Texas: the grill's going, the lake is packed, and somebody is definitely arguing about brisket.

Before the long weekend gets away from us, we wanted to say something simple.

This day exists because working people asked for a limit. A stopping point. A little bit of time that belonged to them and not to the job. That's the whole holiday, and it's a good one.

So if you have Monday off, spend it well. Sleep in. Eat too much. Sit outside with the people you love and let the day move slow.

And if you're one of the folks clocking in on Monday keeping a store open, a shift covered, a truck moving, a patient comfortable thank you. The rest of us get a day off because you don't.

Happy Labor Day from Lewisville and the whole DFW metroplex.

August is officially closed.

Month-end close week is the part nobody posts about reconciling, double-checking, and making sure the numbers tell the true story before anyone makes a decision on them. Books are clean. Reports are out.

And now it's the first Friday of September. Football is back, the weather will eventually get the memo, and the weekend is wide open.

However you're spending it a game, a grill, or absolutely nothing at all we hope it's a good one.

Happy weekend from the Sharp Eye family!

There's a moment every September that most business owners miss.

It's right now. The first week, before the calendar fills up.

August is closed. The holidays are still far off. Nobody's asking about year-end yet. For about four weeks, you actually have room to think.

We notice it every year. The businesses that feel calm in December aren't the ones who worked hardest in December. They're the ones who used September.

So if the books have been sitting. If you've been meaning to look at your numbers and haven't. If you keep telling yourself you'll get organized "once things slow down" look around. This is the slow down.

And it doesn't take much. An afternoon with your documents. Fifteen minutes with your August reports. A few dates on the calendar for the rest of the year.

That's the whole difference between a Q4 you plan and a Q4 that happens to you.

Four months left in 2026. This is the good one let's use it.

What's the one thing you keep pushing to next month? Drop it in the comments. Sometimes saying it out loud is the whole trick.

Happy Monday and happy last day of August.

Eight months of 2026 go in the books today. Four to go.

Here's what nobody tells you about a strong finish: it isn't built in December. It's built in the ordinary weeks, by closing each month clean so the next one starts light.

So before September opens, take ten minutes on what's still open from August. The unsent invoice. The receipts in the truck. The bank feed nobody's checked since July.

Small things. They compound either way for you or against you.

Let's make this a September you don't have to fix later.

Happy Friday 🎉 You made it. Payroll ran, invoices went out, somebody paid you. Take the win.

Then take ten minutes because Q3 is nearly two-thirds gone.

59 days spent. 33 left. And in 18 of them, September 15 arrives with the Q3 estimated payment and any 1120-S or 1065 returns still sitting on extension.

A clean quarter needs July and August reconciled not "mostly." Draws and payroll coded right. A P&L you'd hand a lender without flinching.

If that made you wince, you're not behind by accident. You're behind by drift.

One clean quarter changes the rest of them. We catch you up, close Q3 on time and on paper, then close every month after so Q4 doesn't feel like this one.

33 days is enough. Waiting isn't.

Free consultation. No contracts. Month-to-month, always.

August closes Monday.

Here's the thing about September it never feels urgent. No filing deadline breathing down your neck. No year-end panic yet. It's the calm month.

It was never calm. It's the last quiet one.

September 30 closes the third quarter. That's nine months of real numbers, and the last stretch where you can still change how this year ends. Then Q4 shows up with everything at once short weeks, holidays, renewals, year-end, and every question your lender or your CPA has been saving up.

Three things worth doing before the month is gone:

Close August clean. Reconcile every account, clear out the uncategorized pile.

Get an honest nine-month read balance sheet, P&L, cash flow. Not to feel good or bad about it, but to decide what October looks like.

Have the CPA conversation early. Your CPA does better work in September with clean books than in February with guesswork.

And if you're behind? That's fixable, and it's a lot more common than anybody admits out loud. Cleanup is a big part of what we do, and nobody here is going to make you feel bad for asking.

Four months left in 2026, DFW. Use the quiet one.

Happy Monday,

A good week rarely starts with a big move. It usually starts with a small one getting up a few minutes earlier, clearing the one thing that's been sitting on your mind, or just deciding today is going to be a good day before the day tells you otherwise.

Monday gets a bad reputation. But it's really just a fresh page. Whatever last week looked like, it's behind you. This one is still yours.

So take it steady. Start with what you can control. Be patient with yourself and kind to the people around you. Progress counts even when it's quiet.

Whatever you're working toward this week at work, at home, or somewhere in between we hope you start strong and finish proud.

Make it a great week, DFW.
