Victor, our very own Jessica's husband, has recently gone through a work accident, that resulted in a lot of blood loss. He was fortunate and did not require any blood, but it could have turned our differently for him. Thousands of accidents happen everyday that do result in requiring blood and the blood banks are hurting right now for blood. Please consider donating!

Hockley County Credit Union and Levelland ISD Partner to Build Hockley County Credit Union Lobo Stadium

LEVELLAND, Texas — August 21st, 2026 — Hockley County Credit Union (HCCU) is celebrating the completion of a partnership with Levelland Independent School District to fund the renovation of the district's football field, now named Hockley County Credit Union Lobo Stadium. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday, August 21@ 6:30, at the Stadium.

When Levelland ISD's football field needed to be redone, the district brought HCCU a proposal: if the credit union covered the cost of the field, the money the district would otherwise have had to spend on it could instead go directly toward students and staff.

"When we free up Levelland ISD to invest more in students and staff, we're investing in the same community that invests in us every day," said Russell Vest, CEO at Hockley County Credit Union.

As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, HCCU structured its commitment over a 10-year period, and committed to a gift sized to what the credit union can responsibly give back to its community over time. That structure reflects the philosophy at the center of how HCCU operates: earnings exist to serve members and the community, not outside shareholders.

"We believe this is what a not-for-profit is supposed to do with its earnings," Vest said. "Put dollars back to work for the people in our community."
