YES! It's THAT important! What's the big deal you may ask? Well, the 2 main reasons are tax liability and asset protection.

Having a single account for business and personal blurs the lines between what is business and what is personal. This is a BIG red flag for the IRS and could mean you will get audited. And if things are mixed, it will end up being both your business and personal life getting audited, not just one.

Having an LLC is meant to protect your personal assets. But if you comingle and blur that line that the LLC is supposed to protect, your protection does not exist. If you are ever sued on the business side, then your personal assets can be frozen or seized also.

So do yourself a favor, separate business and personal expenses with separate accounts.

Keeping your receipts is important in case you are ever audited. I suggest keeping physical copies in a file. BUT - I also recommend scanning receipts and keeping a digital copy "in the cloud". That way, you are covered in the event the physical copies get destroyed somehow - and you can still prove your expenses are deductions!
