With the potential flood risk coming in, I feel the need to make this post again. A regular homeowner's insurance policy does NOT cover floods. Even if you aren't in a flood zone. You must purchase a separate policy to cover floods and any other earth movements like a LANDSLIDE. This also applies to a landlord policies.

Did you know… not all home insurance policies cover the weight of ice of snow?? If your roof caved in because of the snow/ice, that wouldn’t be covered.

If we get anything like the Ice Storm of 2009, I expect to see some claims related to snow and ice. If you’ve covered your property under a basic policy, you’re not covered under the threat of tomorrow’s storm!

Make sure your policy is covering your home appropriately before it’s too late!

When looking to renovate an existing commercial building, ensure the insurance you purchase contains the verbiage it needs to keep you covered! Regular commercial policies don't offer the coverage you need on the renovation risk OR the building materials.
