Thinking about investing in a rebrand or a new website? Love that idea!

But before you sign anything β€” let's make sure the money is actually there to support it.

A quick look at your books can tell you exactly what you can realistically spend right now versus what needs to wait. That's the kind of clarity clean bookkeeping gives you β€” and it's a whole lot cheaper than committing to something big and regretting it later.

Click the link in my bio and let's look at the numbers together first.

Just saying, it's so much cooler when your bookkeeper handles it.

Imagine you're in the middle of a client meeting, knee-deep in a project, or just finally taking a lunch break β€” and an email from me lands in your inbox letting you know your May bookkeeping is done.

Done. Categorized. Reconciled. Wrapped up with a detailed breakdown of exactly what happened in your business last month so you actually know where you stand. πŸ‘€

No spreadsheet guilt. No "I'll get to it this weekend." Just numbers, handled.

If you're a small business owner who's tired of your books being the last thing on your to-do list, the link in my bio is waiting 🐾

Humbly announcing Brown Dog Bookkeeping as the official home of the most financially clear-headed small business owners on the internet.

Because here's what nobody warns you about when you start a business: "making money" and "knowing how much money you actually have to spend" are two very different things. One of them requires clean books. The other is just vibes and hope.

We don't do vibes and hope here.

If you're ready to actually understand your numbers β€” what's coming in, what's going out, and what's left for you β€” fill out my contact form.

You started this business for a reason. Let's make sure the money reflects it 🐾

When I need to lock in for a busy day, I'll treat myself to an "out of the house" coffee. The smell of the coffee shop puts that extra pep in my step for the day!

If it's not a treat myself day, you can find me enjoying iced coffee for my first cup and a hot cup in the afternoon.

What is your go to coffee order? β˜•οΈ

Tax season is over and I am just now remembering I'm a person...
If your business took a backseat while you were in full survival mode β€” same. No notes. Completely understandable.

But now that we've surfaced? It's time to do a little post-tax-season wellness check on your books.

I'm sharing 3 places every small business owner should look at right now to make sure things are still running the way they should be. Swipe through β€” and be honest with yourself when you do.

If you get to the end and realize your bookkeeping is more "back burner" than "under control," the link in my bio is a great next step. Let's get you caught up!

Hot take: making a tax deadline fall on a Monday should be a federal offense. The audacity.

But since we're apparently just accepting this as a society, let's talk about why your Q2 estimated taxes are due in June when you just paid in April β€” because yes, that's as unfair as it sounds.

Back when Congress set the estimated tax schedule, Tax Day was March 15th. Count three months out, and June 15th makes perfect sense.

Then Tax Day moved to April 15th.

June 15th did not move.

Nobody fixed it. Nobody apologized. And now you're out here paying two quarters' worth of estimated taxes within about 60 days of each other like that's totally normal.

It's not normal. It's just the rules.

I didn't write them β€” I just make sure you're not blindsided by them. If tax deadlines are not your thing (relatable), follow along. I post this stuff so you don't have to memorize it 🀎

Your books aren't going to fix themselves. (Trust me, I've waited β€” they don't.)

The contact form in my bio takes just a few minutes to fill out. Your future self β€” the one who actually knows their numbers β€” will thank you!

Brace yourself for a hot take 🌢️
The number one reason small business owners hire me isn't because they can't figure out bookkeeping. Most of them could figure it out β€” it's not rocket science.

The real reason? I hear it constantly:
"My time is better spent actually running my business."

Or the equally valid:
"I am not spending my one free Saturday doing this."

And honestly? Both are correct answers.

Bookkeeping being below your pay grade doesn't mean it's not critical to your business. It just means you shouldn't be the one doing it.

That's where I come in. You stay in your zone of genius, I keep your books clean and your numbers trustworthy β€” and nobody spends their weekend in QuickBooks.

Sounds like a win. Let's chat!

You might be asking a little too much of Google Sheets 😬

It's time to tag QuickBooks in if you actually want:
β†’ Bank accounts that sync your transactions automatically
β†’ Customizable reports you can compare to prior periods
β†’ Contractor payments and 1099 filings in one place
β†’ Branded invoices, time tracking, inventory β€” the works

Your spreadsheet is exhausted. It tried its best.

I'll get your business set up in QuickBooks and everything transferred over so the transition is actually painless.
