My favorite event I’ve ever done was yesterday. And it has everything to do with this woman.
I got to create all the custom design work for our own baby shower, for our son. She asked if I wanted one of the team members to serve it. I said no, I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t do it myself.
The real reason it was special is Heather’s sacrifice and belief in me. In 2023, when we met, I had just lost almost everything. This girl took a risk on me. Believed in me when I was trying to relearn to believe in myself.
Phase 2 wouldn’t be what it is today without her. Making syrups last minute. Running to the grocery store last minute. Clocking into events because we’d booked Tim McGraw and I had no one else, after she’d already worked a 40-hour nursing shift. Driving straight from her workout to cover an event I forgot we’d booked, the same day the wheel popped off on the way to another one. Working an event in the rain with me. Encouraging me when I got discouraged. Pushing me when I needed it. Paying the house and food bills so Phase 2 could reinvest and grow.
It’s humbling to think I got to create this coffee cart experience for her and our son, Callaway, when three years ago all I could see was no light at the end of the tunnel.
You give me hope in this world. I hope our son meets a girl someday who believes in him even half as much as you believe in me. He’ll be more than okay.
