Hey all,
The weather forecast doesn't look so great for Thursday and Friday. They are talking about Freezing rain starting on Thursday afternoon (ish) through Friday Night. Friday is supposed to be freezing rain all day.
I live in Albany and work in Lebanon. I have already talked to Mr. G and will be working from home on Friday. This is to avoid what could be hazardous driving conditions. If you can, I would advise staying home and starting the holiday weekend early.
As I think about freezing rain and wind, I can't help but wonder about the trees around my friends' and customers' homes. Do you have some older trees with problem limbs? Does your property have power lines that could be affected?
If you loose power, how will you get heat? How will you cook? My goal is not to alarm you but to get you thinking. I have two camp stoves for cooking food. I have canned provisions and frozen meals that can be heated pretty easily in them. I even have a few MRE's set aside.
Do you have candles that can be used for light in a safe manner? Are your flashlights charged? If they take batteries, do you have any spare ones?
My goal is to help you think of these things. I hope it doesn't come to fruition and this will be just a "drill".
Have a great week, be safe, and have an amazing weekend!

I know I beat a dead horse into the ground. So many of claims come from winter driving. No one wants to get in a crash, but especially in the cold weather. Following some of these simple tips can help you avoid a crash and the hassles associated with them, let alone any possible injuries. Please take a minute to read, and ask yourself if you and your vehicle are ready for winter.

Hydrate!
With the warmer weather blowing in like a furnace this week, please remember to drink lots of water. Be mindful of sun exposure. Wear a hat, suncreen, and take time out of the sun.
Lastly, our rivers and streams are a tempting break from the forecasted heat. They are all running higher than usual and the temperature is colder. These two factors mean you should be more cautious around these bodies of water.
Enjoy a great weekend, be safe!

Reason # 99 of why I am work in insurance!
A veteran owned small business lost his insurance. Mr G, Jenny and I worked to find him a new policy that gave him the coverage he needed at a price he could afford! Today we made that happen! As a result, he’s able to sign a contract with a large customer and grow his business!
Helping those who have served or continue to serve this great country is just one of the reasons I love this business!

Involved in an accident?

Here's what you should do:

First and foremost is life and limb. Make sure everyone is okay. If there is a doubt, call 911 for medics and police.

After you have made sure everyone is okay, is it safe to take pictures? Can you take a video? Claim adjusters can't see what you see. They may not look at the claim until days after. Take photos of the cars, take video. This will help paint the picture and relay the events to them. Make sure to take photos of the plates, and/or VIN numbers of the vehicles involved.

Exchange information with the other driver and take photos of the driver's license and insurance card. On more than one occasion this has helped my customers with snarky claims adjusters.

DO NOT fall victim to someone telling you, "it's all my fault. We will take care of it." Time and time again, I see that mindset change after the person talks to a spouse or confidant.

If you have any questions, contact your local agent. We are here to assist you. IF you don't have a local agent, find one.
