"NO SURPRISE ACT OF 2022" A must read.

The No Surprises Act protects people covered under group and individual health plans from receiving surprise medical bills when they receive most emergency services, non-emergency services from out-of-network providers at in-network facilities, and services from out-of-network air ambulance service providers.

What is a Surprise Medical Bill?
A surprise medical bill is an unexpected bill, often for services received from a health care provider or facility that you did not know was out-of-network until you were billed. Your health insurance may not cover the entire out-of-network cost which leaves you owing the difference between the billed cost and the amount your health insurance paid. This is known as “balance billing.” This bill could be for a service like anesthesiology or laboratory tests. You may not know that the provider or facility is out-of-network until you are billed. People with Medicare and Medicaid already enjoy these protections and are not at risk for surprise billing.

When is Medicare annual enrollment?

Medicare annual enrollment – also known as Medicare’s annual election period (AEP) – runs from October 15 through December 7 each year.

During AEP, if you are currently on a Medicare Advantage plan, considering leaving your Medicare Supplement or switching your prescription plan I can help evaluate your needs and select the best plan for you.

There’s no requirement to take any action during this (AEP), but often people find more affordable options or plans with more coverage. Medicare plan details can change annually, so it’s a good idea to compare your options each fall to make sure your health and prescription drug needs are covered for the following year.
