A tale of two policies...

Policy1, The Perfect Policy...

Policy1--DAD-- had a wind and Hail loss. They had a 2% deductible or $6,000 on a $300,000 house. It was a replacement cost Policy, meaning that the ONLY deduction from the loss was the deductible. This loss ($40,000 including roof, smashed up AC, and shed) paid out $38,000 after the deductible.

Policy2, the sons Policy. Son told me that he didn't want to pay the premium dad did...he wanted cheaper ($4,000/yr vs $2,800). He picked depreciation or a deduction for the number of years old that an item is. He bought an older house w older appliances, etc... wind and Hail came, loss came. He filed a claim the same claim as dad. Payout= $1,000...bc depreciation. A 30 year old roof+30 year old fence + 20 year old AC= greatly depreciated loss.

So let me ask you....was the discount worth it??

If you’ve been around for a while, you know that Stop & Shop Local 2026 is more than just an event. It’s about showing off our local businesses, bringing people together, and giving back to our community.

And honestly, we couldn’t do it without our sponsors.

This will be our 9th year, and together we’ve raised more than $30,000 for local charities over the years. This year, the money we’re able to give back will go to United Way of Southwest Oklahoma.

Our sponsorships help us cover things like the venue, advertising, entertainment, and all the little things that go into putting this event together. Once those costs are covered, the remaining sponsorship money goes right back to the nonprofit.

The same goes for the rest of the event — entry fees, vendor fees, raffles, and t-shirt sales.

We also want our sponsors to get something out of being part of it! Depending on the sponsorship level, perks can include things like:

•Your logo on our event shirt
• Advertising opportunities
• Direct advertising to our participating vendors
•A FREE vendor booth
• Event recognition
•••••And more!

And there’s something important to know when looking at the sponsorship levels:

🔴 The number in the red circle tells you how many businesses can choose that level.
So if you see a 1, there is only ONE spot available at that level.
If you see a 2 , there are only TWO spots available.
Once those spots are taken, they’re gone!

One of the things we love most about Stop & Shop Local is that it doesn’t just bring people from our community. We have people coming in from surrounding towns and even other states, which gives our local businesses a chance to get their name in front of new faces.

So, if your business has been looking for a way to support local, get your name out there, and be part of something that gives back, we’d love to have you on board.

Did you know:

The information you give during the quoting process is necessary for giving an accurate quote.

For example: "How many drivers do you have in the house?" tells us who we are rating for, if you qualify for multi-driver discounts, if you qualify for a married discount (yes, married people are often rated lower than unmarried), if there are any job-related discounts, if there are any good grade or driving school discounts, and a multitude of other things.

Incorrect information can: throw off the rate, add rate when drivers are "discovered" by underwriting, result in claims issues if someone who lives in the house and is not disclosed drives your car, cause your payment to go up...or down...if the policy wasn't rated accurately in the first place.
