Everyone talks about spring cleaning but let's talk Spring Home tips

1. Get the roof checked
We had a little bit of snow and ice this year again. With spring coming it gives a perfect opportunity to give it a good check over. Look for missing or damaged shingles and signs of leaking or cracking.
You can also call a professional to come check it out for you.

2. Clean your gutters!
Clean all debris and leaves out of the downspouts and gutters. Reattach the gutters if they are sagging or consider replacing them if they are beyond repair. Notice any holes? Prevent leaks by caulking them.

And don't forget to check the down spouts! If you don't have leaf guards these become clogged as well. Pour water down and check drainage and flow. Keep in mind that downspouts should face away from your home to improve drainage.

3. AC Unit
Clean around the outside AC unit. Get debris off the side filters. If they are clogged this will make your unit work harder and sky rocket your power bill!

On the inside be sure to replace all filters to help the system function properly. This will also help keep you healthy.
Don't forget the furnace filter so you are ready for next cold season

4. Check your windows and doors.
Inspect the seals around your home openings. If these are damaged, cracked, or missing you are allowing bugs in and cool air to escape. Clean the window tracks while you are at it. This will help with longevity.

5. Perform routine safety device check
Replace the batteries in smoke alarms. If you have a fire extinguisher check the date. If out of date, replace. If you have a home security system and haven't done your monthly checks, now is a perfect time.
