written by our incredibly talented specialist Julia:
A CHANGED WORLD
On September eleventh, two thousand and one
The worst attack on America was done.
With thousands of people hurting and dead
No words could explain how our hearts bled!
On that day, our world forever changed.
Not only for those who were hurt, killed or maimed
And for those who lost loved ones on that day,
But many were changed in profound ways.
Through our sad shock, fear, and tears
Patriotism soared like it hadn’t in years.
Flags sprang up everywhere as if to say,
“You didn’t kill America on that black day!”
And millions of dollars have been raised
To help those so impacted on that day.
And people being kinder to neighbors and friends
And more turning to God at the day’s end.
And more people supporting our President
With an approval rating that is without precedent.
Even as this day caused us to war
And as the losses of Americans would be more.
And our senators and congressmen arm in arm
Singing “God Bless America” as a result of this harm.
When perhaps just days before
God “couldn’t” have been mentioned on the house floor.
And recognition, finally, of the women and men
Who risk their lives for us again and again.
The police and EMT’s, and those who fight fires
May God truly grant you your hearts’ desires!
And the recovery workers still there today
You are present in our thoughts as we pray.
And searching for terrorists across the world
With furry and vigor never before unfurled.
As the bombs rain and our service men fall
They do their chosen duty to protect us all.
God bless you, and thank you for dying for me!
May your efforts be rewarded for the world to see.
Oh God, what pain this day caused!
But with Your help, we can be strong!
Please let the good changes live on
From this day or horror that changed us all.
A poem from the heart
