Medicare Myth or Fact? 🤔

As we get closer to Medicare Annual Enrollment, I hear many of the same questions — and a few common misconceptions.

MYTH: “If I’m happy with my Medicare plan, there’s no reason to review it.”

FACT: Even if you like your current coverage, your plan can change from one year to the next. Costs, benefits, prescription drug coverage, pharmacy networks, and provider networks may be different for the coming year. 2027 will present a few challenges but solutions are available!

That doesn’t mean you need to change plans.

It simply means it’s worth taking a few minutes to make sure your current coverage will still meet your needs in 2027.

Medicare Annual Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7.

Over the next several weeks, I’ll be sharing answers to some of the Medicare questions I hear most often.

Have a Medicare question you’d like me to address? Send me a message — I’m happy to help.

MONDAY — ANNUITIES

Will your retirement income last as long as you do?

Saving for retirement is one challenge. Turning those savings into dependable income can be another.

An annuity may be worth exploring if you're looking for:

A potential source of guaranteed lifetime income
Protection from certain market risks
Tax-deferred growth
More predictability in retirement

Annuities aren't right for everyone, and there are several different types. The important part is understanding how they work before making a decision.

If you're approaching retirement or already retired, I'd be happy to help you explore the options.

Myth vs. Fact (Annuities)

MYTH vs. FACT

❌ Myth: Annuities are only for wealthy retirees.

✅ Fact: Annuities are used by people from many different financial backgrounds who simply want more predictable retirement income.

Regardless of what you retire with, the goal is often the same:

Create confidence that your income can continue throughout retirement.

Every person's situation is different, which is why education comes first.

Long-Term Care: Plan Before You Need It
Most people plan for retirement. Far fewer plan for long-term care.
The reality is that many Americans will need some type of extended care during their lifetime—whether at home, in an assisted living community, or in a nursing facility.
Planning ahead can help:
✅ Protect your retirement savings
✅ Preserve your independence
✅ Reduce financial stress on your family
✅ Give you more choices if care becomes necessary
The best time to learn about your options is before you need them.
I'm always happy to answer questions and help you understand what's available.

Planning Ahead Pays Off

Most people don't wait until the day before retirement to start planning—but many wait until the last minute to review their Medicare coverage.

Whether you're turning 65 soon or have been on Medicare for years, a quick review can help ensure your coverage still fits your needs. Doctors change, prescriptions change, and plan benefits can change from year to year.

The same is true for life insurance and retirement planning. Taking a little time today can help prevent bigger problems tomorrow.

My goal is simple: provide clear, straightforward information so you can make informed decisions with confidence—without pressure.

If you have questions about Medicare, life insurance, retirement planning, or long-term care, I'm always happy to have a conversation.

What financial or insurance topic would you like to understand better? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Medicare Annual Enrollment Is Closer Than You Think
Every year, I meet people who assume their Medicare coverage will remain exactly the same. Sometimes it does—but often there are changes to premiums, prescription drug formularies, provider networks, or extra benefits that can affect both coverage and costs.
The Annual Enrollment Period, beginning October 15, is an opportunity to review your options and make sure your current plan still fits your needs.
Here are a few questions worth asking before enrollment begins:
• Has your health changed over the past year?
• Are your doctors still in your plan's network?
• Have your prescription medications changed?
• Are you paying for benefits you no longer use?
• Could another plan provide better value?
The goal isn't necessarily to change plans every year. The goal is to make an informed decision based on your current situation.
As an independent insurance advisor, I compare multiple plans and focus on helping people understand their choices so they can decide what's best for them.
If you have questions about your Medicare coverage, I'm always happy to help.
