Happy Birthday to the U.S. Navy, the only workplace where the floor is a deck, the kitchen is a galley, and nobody has ever lost an argument about it! On October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress authorized the first armed vessels for what would become the Navy, which means this branch is turning 251 years old and has still never once asked for directions. That’s more than two centuries of sailors standing watch, far from home, so the rest of us can sleep in on a Tuesday. Today is a great day to say thanks to the men and women who have served, and are serving, on the water, under it, and above it. Happy National Taco Day to the only holiday that had to be rescheduled so it could match a day of the week we were already eating tacos! For years it landed on October 4th, but a few years back the powers that be moved it to the first Tuesday in October so it would always fall on Taco Tuesday, which is the most delicious case of 'let's just combine them' in history. Tacos themselves go back centuries in Mexico, where people were wrapping fillings in tortillas long before anyone thought to put it in a hard shell and call it dinner. I love that we live in a world where a holiday can get moved just so we don't have to pick between two reasons to eat tacos. So tell me in the comments, what's your go-to taco order?
