[Omitting names to protect the privacy of the family] A lot of agents working in the financial space like to show all the benefits of their products, all the ways they can help, but they forget to show they’re humans too. A few years ago when I first started in this career, I had approached an old friend of mine to see if I could be a resource to him and his family. Unfortunately, he was already undergoing dialysis regularly and was struggling with health problems, which meant that he was uninsurable. Fast forward to today and that friend had passed away less than a week ago. Even though I made an effort to help him out, I still feel an immense sense that maybe I could’ve been able to do something back then. I feel like this is the equivalent of how first responders, Dr’s, nurses, etc have that sense of remorse when they lose a patient. So if a friend or family member approaches you to see if they can be of any help to you or your family, there’s sincerity in that. If they’re in the businees for the right reasons, they truly want to be able to help protect you and your loved ones. All they ask in return is that you answer openly and honestly - just like you would if you were talking with a friend or family member who genuinely wanted your perspective.
