We asked 1,000 consumers and more than 200 small-business owners how payment preferences shape where people shop.

Here's what we learned:

• 44% say a faster, smoother checkout would make them shop locally more often

• 37% have already abandoned a local purchase because paying felt too inconvenient

• 61% say flexible payment options matter when buying local

• More than half of Gen Z have walked away from a local purchase over a clunky checkout

Monday, we announced that Aurora Payments is now Flute. Today, we want to share a little of the story behind it.

We started with one goal: to give growing businesses a payments platform that actually works for them — simple, affordable, and built to grow alongside them.

Over the years, we listened. We learned. And we kept building. What started as a payments processor grew into a unified platform for payments, working capital, and business management.

Flute is the next chapter. We’re on the same mission, with a name to match where we’re going next.

Yesterday, we announced our rebrand from Aurora Payments to Flute — bringing payments, working capital, transaction reporting, and merchant services into one account.
