MEDICARE FACT MONDAY:
Government data reveals that nearly 70% of individuals who reach age 65 will need long-term care at some point. The median cost of an assisted living facility was $4,500 a month as of 2022, according to Genworth Financial Inc. It was more than twice that for a private room in a nursing home.

What many seniors don’t realize is that Medicare doesn’t pay most long-term care costs. It only covers up to 100 days of care at a skilled nursing facility and only if it was preceded by a hospital stay of three days or more.

If you’re not sitting on a sizable nest egg, that’s a good reason to start understanding what you can do to prepare.

Bruce Ball has been a residence of Las Cruces since 1985 and is married to his wife Maria, and has 2 grown daughters, Kristin who lives in Alabama, and Erika who lives in Arizona. He is originally from Maryland where he grew up loving sports and teams like the Baltimore Orioles and Colts. Bruce has worked full time since age 18 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Math as he went to college for 16 years as a part-time student, never missing a class. He played competitive softball for 33 years, and even umpired 400 games a year for 7 of those years, while working full-time. He became a licensed Financial Advisor with Edward Jones in 2019 and has since earned his CRPC designation (Charted Retirement Planning Consultant).
