For Hispanic Heritage Month, our Office Manager, Mary Rivera, is sharing the family memories, traditions, and values that mean the most to her. ❤️
🎸 One tradition she especially misses sharing with her dad is Christmas parrandas—what she describes as “extreme Christmas caroling!” Family and friends would arrive unannounced at someone’s home at night with guitars, sometimes waking up the hosts. Once invited inside, everyone would eat and celebrate before heading to the next house, bringing new people along until the early hours of the morning!
👨👩👧👦 Her heritage has also shaped the way she approaches life and leadership: “My heritage has taught me the value of family, relationships and how to work hard. Leadership is rooted in service. Everyone has value and has something to offer.”
🍰 And of course, there’s the food! Mary loves making tres leches cake and pastelillos, also known as empanadas—and says she makes a mean batch!
